QUEEN ANNE STAKES

CESARE
6yo bay gelding; Machavellian – Tromond
Trainer: James Fanshawe
Form: 01015-1
“On the scoreboard at the Royal meeting 12 months ago when landing the Hunt Cup, connections have forked out £20,000 to supplement him for this Group 1 prize. He broke the course record over the same course and distance in Listed grade when routing subsequent Goodwood winner Illustrious Blue. He has a fine win-to-run ratio and clearly reserves his best for this track. Let’s hope the entry fee isn’t wasted.”

DANAK
4yo brown colt; Pivotal – Daniysha
Trainer: John Oxx
Form: 111-114
“Would need to be supplemented and saw his unbeaten record come to an end when fourth to Notnowcato in the Group 1 Tattersalls Gold Cup at the Curragh in May. Before that he had won five times, including in Group 3 company, and his first defeat was no disgrace as he was reported to have picked up a muscle injury in running. Too premature to say if he stays 1m 2f or not but he’s certainly smart at a mile and worth another crack at the highest level.”

GEORGE WASHINGTON
4yo bay colt; Danehill – Bordighera
Trainer: Aidan O’Brien
Form: 12316-
“This would surely qualify as one of racing’s ultimate fairytales if last year’s 2,000 Guineas hero galloped to victory after proving to be not so fertile in his duties at Coolmore Stud. He only came back into training in March and arrives for his date with destiny without a prep-race although that has never been a concern with Ballydoyle runners in the past. A brilliant miler, his temperament is undoubtedly suspect but he has tons of ability and it would come as no surprise to see him firing on all cylinders back on the racecourse.”

JEREMY
4yo bay colt; Danehill Dancer – Glint In Her Eye
Trainer: Sir Michael Stoute
Form: 211620-15
“Won the Jersey Stakes at last year’s Royal meeting and has reportedly improved during the winter which was illustrated by his ready success in the Group 2 Betfred Mile at Sandown. He was disappointing when stepped up to Group 1 class for the Lockinge Stakes and finished a never-dangerous fifth. However he did throw in a below-par effort last season before recapturing his form and is worth another tilt at Group 1 rivals.”

RACINGER
4yo bay colt; Spectrum – Dibenoise
Trainer: Freddie Head
Form: 424342-11
“Has improved in the last few outings under more forceful tactics, notably when making most of the running for two narrows wins over Turtle Bowl at Saint-Cloud this spring. Sees out a mile well and both wins came on soft and heavy ground although he has form on a quicker surface. He’s a horse with not many miles on the clock and a consistent performer that is on the upgrade. Probably doesn’t stay much further than a mile but goes on most ground.”

RAMONTI
5yo bay horse; Martino Alonso – Fosca
Trainer Saeed bin Surooor
Form: 1121102113-2
“Was only beaten a head in the 2005 Italian Derby and won five races, including two Group 2’s and  Group 1 in Italy last year when trained in that country. Made a promising debut for Godolphin when just failing by a head to catch Red Evie in the Lockinge Stakes. He stays further than a mile and raced a little keenly under restraint at Newbury – don’t be surprised to see Frankie grab the bull by the horns and make the running at Ascot.”

RED EVIE
4yo bay filly; Intikhab – Malafemmena
Trainer: Michael Bell
Form: 11111115- 1
“Apparently works no better than an ordinary handicapper at home but, unlike a lot of ‘morning glories’ she produces the goods where it matters and that’s exactly what she did when landing the Lockinge Stakes in May. She never really got the credit she deserved for last year’s exploits, particularly when beating Peeress in Group 1 company in Ireland and her Lockinge win demonstrated that she can mix with the colts too. Excels at 7f-8f and who’s to say she hasn’t stopped improving.”

TURTLE BOWL
5yo bay horse; Dyhim Diamond – Clara Bow
Francois Rohaut
Form: 022-11222
“Has been in decent form this term and won minor events at Pau and Bordeaux in February and March. He won in Group 1 company at Chantilly in 2005 when showing a nice turn of foot to beat Starpix decisively in the Prix Jean Prat, traditionally one of the weaker top races. He’s held his form well this season and was twice a close second to Racinger before Manduro trounced him by five-lengths on testing ground in the Group1 Prix d’lspahan at Longchamp in May.”
