Hollywood Turf Festival, the Japan Cup from Tokyo and Cigar Mile Handicap Highlight the Holiday Weekend

LOS ANGELES (November 20, 2008) – TVG, America’s Horseracing Network, will air special coverage of premier Thoroughbred racing this Thanksgiving weekend, including live broadcasts from the Hollywood Turf Festival at Hollywood Park, the Japan Cup in Tokyo, and the Hill ‘N’ Dale Cigar Mile at Aqueduct.

“Thanksgiving weekend is the time for some of the year’s best racing from around the world,” said Tony Allevato, TVG senior vice president and executive producer. “Fans can watch TVG over the holiday weekend and see unmatched coverage and analysis for these exciting races.”

The three-day, $1.75-million Hollywood Turf Festival heats up Friday, November 28, with the $400,000 Citation Handicap (G1). TVG’s live exclusive coverage of the much-anticipated turf racing weekend at Hollywood Park includes six graded stakes, culminating with the $500,000 Matriarch (G1) and the $500,000 Hollywood Derby (G1) on Sunday, November 30. The Turf Festival is known for offering the nation's finest late-season grass racing.

TVG will be live on track for exclusive coverage of the Japan Cup at the Tokyo Racecourse with live reports from analyst Simon Bray and host Todd Schrupp. The $5 million Japan Cup (G1) is expected to include U.S. based Marsh Side, the upset winner of the Canadian International. Coverage begins Saturday, November 29, at 9:30 p.m. PT/ 12:30 a.m. ET.

The $300,000 Hill ‘N’ Dale Cigar Mile Handicap (G1) at Aqueduct is the marquee event and final Grade 1 race of Aqueduct’s fall meet. Coverage begins at 12:30 p.m. PT/ 3:30 p.m. ET on November 29. Also at Aqueduct, TVG will air the Top Flight Handicap (G2) on November 28 and both the Demoiselle (G2) and the Remsen (G2) on November 29.
