LOS ANGELES (March 10, 2009) – TVG, America’s Horseracing Network, will broadcast live, trackside coverage of the $300,000 Tampa Bay Derby (GIII) from Tampa Bay Downs on Saturday, March 14. Coverage of the track’s marquee race begins at 4 p.m. ET, with post time at 5:26 p.m. ET.

TVG’s Todd Schrupp and Simon Bray will be onsite to provide live reports of the action. The Tampa Bay Derby has emerged as one of the premiere Kentucky Derby prep races and is the highlight of Festival Day, the track’s richest day of racing.

Street Sense won the 2007 Tampa Bay Derby on his way to a win in that year’s Kentucky Derby. Bluegrass Cat finished second in the 2006 Tampa Bay Derby and went on to second place finishes in both the Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes.

In addition to the Tampa Bay Derby, Festival Day will feature the $175,000 Hillsborough Stakes (GIII), the $200,000 Florida Oaks (GIII) and the $75,000 Turf Dash.

First opened as Tampa Downs in 1926, Tampa Bay Downs is one of the oldest racetracks in America, and the only Thoroughbred racetrack on Florida’s Gulf Coast. Known as one of the best-maintained racetracks in the country, it also features one of North America’s most popular turf courses.
