The 100-year history of Belmont Park is filled with colorful people, twists and turns and, above all, the most famous Thoroughbreds of all time. It is a history that begins with its opening on May 4, 1905 and continues through this year when Belmont Park hosts its traditional two meetings along with the 138th Belmont Stakes. The 60-day Spring/Summer meeting runs from Wednesday, May 4, to Sunday, July 24, and includes 40 stakes races (10 Grade 1s) worth $8.6 million. The 38-day Fall Championship meeting will run from Friday, Sept. 9, to Sunday, Oct. 30, with 46 stakes races (13 Grade 1s) worth $11.7 million. The Triple Crown climaxes in the Belmont Stakes on Saturday, June 10th.
