Basunda Stakes at Aqueduct: We had a banner weekend for the newsletter on January 8, 2011, with three Bankroll Play winners, and it all started with a nice win by our top selection in the Basunda Stakes, DANCE QUIETLY (8/5), which paid $5.40/$3.30/$2.90. Our $25 win/place Bankroll Play returned $108.75. We also suggested a $5 exacta with the second-place horse, MOONLIT MALIBU (4/1), which paid $20.60 for $2, netting us another $51.50. Winsham Lad at Sunland Park: This race was a very good one for us, as bettors overlooked our top choice and defending champ BLACK HILLS to the tune of 5/1, with payouts of $13.40/$6.40/$3.40. Our $25 win/show Bankroll Play with BLACK HILLS netted us $210.00. The place and show horses, RED LEAD (4/1) and IMCO SPIRIT (9/5), were our third and second choices, respectively, and an exacta and trifecta box of these top-three choices returned $37.30 (for $1) and $95.20 (for $1), respectively. Hal’s Hope (G3) at Gulfstream Park: Even though we nailed the trifecta with our top-three selections, I somehow managed not to use the winner, SOARING EMPIRE (2/1), on top in any of our plays. Instead, I had him keyed in second with top choice and Bankroll Play MORNING LINE (who ran third at even-money) and third choice RULE (who ran second at 3/1). If I had just boxed our top three, we would’ve had a $25.00 exacta (for $2) and a $20.90 trifecta (for $1). San Pasqual (G2) at Santa Anita Park: Our third Bankroll Play winner on the day, AGGIE ENGINEER (8/5), dominated, returning $5.40/$3.40/$2.80, netting us a total of $110.00 on our $25 win/place Bankroll Play. We also suggested a $10 exacta with the winner and SPURRIER (3/1), which paid $8.90 (for $1), adding another $89.00 to our wallet for this race. All in all, it was a great weekend, putting our Bankroll Plays at +$143.75 in the black after four weeks and sixteen races. Let’s see if we can keep it going!
