15 three-year-old fillies – 14 runners and one also eligible – have been entered in the Pin Oak Valley View Stakes (G3) at Keeneland on Friday, October 18. The complex cast has three runners from the Chad Brown barn, as well as class stakes winners Winter Sunset, Maxim Rate, The Mackem Bullet, and Lady Prancealot (Ire).

#4 Winter Sunset is royally-bred, being by Tapit and out of grade 1 winner Winter Memories. She is a two-time stakes winner, and is coming off a stakes win on the grass at Indiana Downs last out for trainer Wayne Catalano. She is three times grade 3 placed this year, but is still seeking her first graded win.

#3 Carnival Colors (GB) will start for Michael Stidham, with Jose Ortiz up. She’s coming off a win in the Virginia Oaks at Colonial Downs last out, which was over 1 1/8 miles compared to today’s shorter 1 1/16-mile distance. The daughter of Distorted Humor is three for six lifetime, and has run all over the map, with additional starts at Arlington Park, Woodbine, and Laurel.

#2 Blowout (GB) is the first of the Chad Brown runners. The daughter of Dansili is three for seven lifetime and never worse than third. She was a stakes winner at Belmont Park last out, and was twice graded stakes placed at Saratoga. John Velazquez will be back in the irons today, and the filly has had three strong works on the grass since her last race.

#7 Catch a Bid is coming off a win in the Riskaverse at Saratoga under Irad Ortiz, Jr. who will be up again today. This is Brown’s second entrant, who is two for three lifetime. Her lone loss came at this 1 1/16-mile distance.

#9 Maxim Rate comes in from California for trainer Simon Callaghan. She was a grade 3 winner at Santa Anita earlier in the year, but has struggled against tougher company since. The daughter of Exchange Rate was sixth, beaten just three and a half lengths, in the grade 1 Del Mar Oaks last out.

#10 Turf War is Brown’s third entrant. Joel Rosario will be up on the French import, who won the Christicat sprinting last out at Belmont Park. This will be the tenth start for the daughter of War Front.

#11 The Mackem Bullet was a grade 2 winner here on April 7 for trainer Wesley Ward, but has not run since. She was group 1 placed last year in England, then finished sixth in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1). She was a brilliant 10 ½ length winner at Turfway Park over a mile in December. She has worked six times in the recent form cycle, all over this turf course with a bullet October 13.

#12 Lady Prancealot (IRE) was entered here last week against grade 1 company but scratched. She is a grade 3 winner this year, and was third in the Del Mar Oaks (G1). She was sixth at 5-1 in the Jockey Club Oaks (G1) last out over a much longer route of ground. This will be her 16th lifetime start; she has been top three 10 times. Joe Bravo rides.

The field is completed by Solar Kitten, Wildlife, Princess Causeway, She’sonthewarpath, Hard Legacy, Story Time, and also eligible Dalika (Ger).
