This Saturday, January 18 will have 27 stakes races across the nation, all of which can be viewed on TVG. Six of those races will be held at the Fair Grounds in Louisiana, with the $200,000 Lecomte Stakes (G3) topping the card. Fillies with Longines Kentucky Oaks (G1) aspirations will take to the track for the Silverbulletday Stakes, a one mile and 70-yard race for sophomores.

Winchell Thoroughbreds’ Finite is a leading contender. The grade 2 winner at Churchill Downs last out starts her 2020 season here after two straight stakes wins. She took the Rags to Riches by six lengths before adding the Golden Rod (G2) around 1 1/16 miles. The Munnings filly is trained by Steve Asmussen, and has never been worse than second in five starts. She has had four local works here this winter. Ricardo Santanda, Jr. will ride.

Pass the Plate is a two-time winner on the grass from Kentucky for trainer Paul McGee. Shaun Bridgmohan will ride the daughter of Temple City, who has been a two-turn winner twice against maiden and allowance company. She hasn’t run since November 20, but has been working steadily here since December 10 and has never been worse than third.

Ursula, by Tapit, was well-regarded after breaking her maiden by more than five lengths for trainer Mike Stidham here in November. She finished second in stakes company here December 21 and now stretches out around two turns for the first time. The pedigree suggests it shouldn’t be a problem.

Maga Suite, by Palace Malice, broke her maiden on the grass at Churchill Downs sprinting five and a half furlongs November 16. She hasn’t run since but worked a bullet half-mile here January 10, the fastest of 83 works at the distance. Robby Albarado will ride.

The Brad Cox-trained Portrait, by Tapizar, was an Ellis Park maiden winner in August, then ran third in grade 2 company at Churchill Downs in September. She hasn’t run since, but has run around two turns before and has been working well. Florent Geroux will ride.

Tempers Rising, His Glory, and She Can’t Sing round out the field.
