Ax Man hasn’t run since March 30 of last year, but the Bob Baffert-trained son of Misremembered will be worth watching Sunday at Santa Anita Park in the $75,000 Clocker’s Corner Stakes. The 5 1/2 -furlong turf contest has a field of seven set to go in the seventh of eight races.

Ax Man was last seen finishing fifth as the favorite in the San Carlos (G2) here last year. That seven-furlong contest came after a win on the main track February 8 under Drayden Van Dyke, who is back aboard today. Ax Man has four wins from nine tries; this will be the shortest race of his career.

Ghoul made his first start for trainer Peter Miller last out, winning an allowance race over this trip December 29. He was previously trained by Mark Casse, but never won for that trainer after coming up from Brazil where he was a multiple stakes winner. Ghoul defeated both What’sontheagenda and Lil Milo in his previous outing; both horses are back for this.

Lil Milo has three wins in six tries on the surface. The gelded son of Rocky Bar will get Ruben Fuentes up and won over this trip back in October. He had traffic trouble in his last start, and still missed by less than two lengths. Alfredo Marquez trains.

What’sontheagenda has run on this course nine times with eight top three finishes. He hasn’t won since last February, but that was here and trainer Doug O’Neill has him going the right way now after a lengthy layoff from July to December. Tiago Pereira gets up for this, and the horse has a bullet workout at San Luis Rey Downs from January 14 to show.

Oiseau de Guerre is O’Neill’s second runner. Rafael Bejarano will ride the son of War Front, who won three in a row last year at Golden Gate Fields before being claimed and moving south. He was sixth in his first start locally in nine months, but had a difficult start and switches back to turf for this.

Double Touch and Bay Muzik complete the field. Watch all the Sunday racing action live on TVG.
