A total of 23 runners have been entered for spit divisions of the $400,000 Risen Star Stakes (G2) at the Fair Grounds, a prep race worth points towards the 2020 Kentucky Derby. The two races go as the 12th and 13th on a 13-race card.

The first division, which has a local post time of 5:38pm, has 11. Mr. Monomoy, the half-brother to Kentucky Oaks and Breeders’ Cup Distaff heroine Monomoy Girl, is entered after running third in the Lecomte here on January 18. The two horses that beat him that day, Enforceable and Silver State, are both back for this.

Enforceable is a half-brother to New Year’s Day and Mohaymen. The former is the sire of last year’s Champion Three Year Old Maximum Security. He has won two of his seven starts for trainer Mark Casse, and even broke his maiden over 1 1/8-miles last summer at Saratoga. He is the only horse in this race with a win over the distance.

Scabbard will break on the outside. He was fourth in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1) last fall after running second in both the Saratoga Special and Iroquois. He was fifth as the favorite in the Lecomte, beaten seven lengths in his first start of the year. Eddie Kenneally trains the son of More Than Ready.

The second division of the Risen Star completes the card. Anneau d’Or puts blinkers on after two narrow losses in some major races. He missed by a head in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1) at 28-1, beaten by Storm the Court. He wheeled back five weeks later to be second by a neck in the Los Alamitos Futurity (G2) behind Thousand Words, who came back to win the Robert B. Lewis earlier this month. Blaine Wright trains, Joel Rosario climbs on for the first time.

Jack Sisterson trains Truculent, who was a maiden winner here in November over a mile and seventy yards. He is also entered in the John Battaglia Memorial at Turfway Park the day before, and may scratch.

Liam’s Lucky Charm was the winner of the Pasco Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs last out Januay 18. He has three wins in six starts with a second and two thirds. Ralph Nicks trains the son of Khozan.

Major Fed broke his maiden here by 4 ¼-lengths on New Year’s Day. He hasn’t run since, but has three works, including a five furlong move January 30.
