The $200,000 Gulfstream Park Oaks (G2) drew a field of 12, with two also eligibles waiting in the wings for scratches. The big favorite for the  Gulfstream Park race is unbeaten Tonalist’s Shape, who looks to extend her winning streak to six. Watch and wager on all the action with TVG.

Tonalist’s Shape broke her maiden on debut over this course in September, then was transferred to the barn of Saffie Joseph. She won her first stakes race over a mile here by nine lengths, then added the Grade 3 Forward Gal and the Grade 2 Davona Dale. In the Davona Dale she defeated Spice Is Nice, who was favored.

Spice Is Nice earned her Davona Dale favoritism after a smashing 12-length romp on debut January 12. Todd Pletcher trains the daughter of Curlin, who cost over $1 million as a yearling. John Velazquez is switched to Mrs. S while Javier Castellano takes over on this one.

Mrs. S is another Pletcher runner, who puts blinkers on after an off-the-turf victory here February 16. She took five tries to break her maiden, but only finished worse than third once. The daughter of Creative Cause has worked three times since that race, including a March 7 bullet at Palm Beach Downs.

Dream Marie finished third behind Tonalist’s Shape and Spice Is Nice in the Davona Dale. The daughter of Graydar had won three in a row – starting with a $20,000 maiden claimer – before going off at 28-1 in the Grade 2. She was beaten just four lengths with a nice rally from seventh.

Lake Avenue was a Grade 2 winner at Aqueduct last year, and broke her maiden by nearly 13 lengths before that. Bill Mott trains the daughter of Tapit for Godolphin. She made her 2020 debut as the heavy favorite in the Busher Invitational on March 7, but ran weakly to be fourth, beaten nine lengths. She has since had just one lone work, a half-mile move at Payson Park, and gets Joel Rosario for this.

Lucrezia is worth a look after two straight stakes wins at Tampa Bay Downs. Arnaud Delacour trains the daughter of Into Mischief, who will get Julien Leparoux back aboard today. They have been parted since breaking her maiden at Keeneland in October on the grass. Both of her stakes wins have come on the main track. Recent maiden winners include Inveterate for Dermot Magner, Bahan Girl for Rohan Crichton, and Spatanka for Mike Maker. Grade 2 placed Swiss Skydiver, Addilyn, and Sunset Promise complete the field.
