Arkansas Derby (G1) Division 1 at Oaklawn Park: The Bob Baffert train kept on rolling in Arkansas as he dominated both divisions of this race, this one specifically won by CHARLATAN ($2.80), improving the career record for this $700,000 son of SPEIGHTSTOWN to a perfect three-for-three. And I cashed the 50 cent trifecta that paid $8.20 eight times, so showed a small profit for the race.

Arkansas Derby (G1) Division 2 at Oaklawn Park: It was ‘game, set, match’ as NADAL ($3.80), another $700,000 purchase by the Baffert Team (this one sired by BLAME), also remains undefeated on his path to Louisville the first Saturday in September. But unlike the first division, no luck handicapping as 62/1 longshot FINNICK THE FIERCE finishing third, ruined our chances of cashing.

Oaklawn Handicap (G2) at Oaklawn Park: On paper, this looked like a great betting race, and it turned out to be so with an $11.00 winner that I had (BY MY STANDARDS), but I unfortunately whiffed on my exotic plays by leaving off second place finisher WARRIOR’S CHARGE despite labeling him an ‘interesting prospect.’

Big Drama at Gulfstream Park: Good news is my analysis for this race was spot on. Bad news is the winner (NETWORK EFFECT) only paid $3.20, but I allocated my entire $50 wagering budget on his nose to win. Turn the page!
