The initial stakes races of the delayed season at Woodbine Racetrack outside Toronto, Canada, will take place on Saturday, June 13. The first of two stakes is the $100,000 Woodstock Stakes for three-year-olds over six furlongs.

Mid-Atlantic based trainer Michael Trombetta will ship two horses north for the race, including #2 Newstome. The son of Goldencents was a stakes winner at Laurel Park and Presque Isle Downs last fall, but hasn’t won since November. He is coming off a sixth place effort at 5 – 1 in the Animal Kingdom at Turfway Park, which has a synthetic surface much like Woodbine’s. Luis Contreras will ride.

Trombetta’s other horse is 10-1 shot #8 Muchmorethanthis. The $90,000 purchase by City Zip has been first or third in all seven career starts, with two wins. He is stakes placed, and has been racing exclusively on the grass. Justin Stein will ride.

Favoritism goes to #7 Untitled (5-2) for trainer Mark Casse. The son of Khozan broke his maiden at Gulfstream Park in December by 11 lengths sprinting, and has since been Grade 3 placed at Aqueduct. He was fifth going a mile at Gulfstream last out, but should appreciate the cut back in distance.

#4 Clayton (3-1) was a huge maiden winner here November 17. He crushed by more than seven lengths for trainer Kevin Attard, and has not been seen since like many Woodbine-based horses. Rafael Hernandez will ride the son of Bodemeister, who has had seven works for his return.

#1 Aye Aye Sir (6-1) has won two of his last four starts for trainer Wesley Ward. The son of Midshipman is coming off a sixth-place finish in stakes company sprinting on the grass, where he has made all of his six starts. He was fifth in his only try past 5 ½ furlongs, but ran third in stakes company on the grass here last year.

#5 Stormy Soul (15 – 1) will make his 2020 debut for Kelly Callaghan. The son of Stormy Atlantic broke his maiden here over 6 ½ furlongs in December while adding Lasix after running third in his debut. He worked on the grass in Florida and then at a training center before having just one work here June 6.
