Thursday’s $125,000 Jacques Cartier Stakes (G3) at Woodbine Racetrack will include the seasonal bow of multiple Canadian champion Pink Lloyd, who will try to win this race for the fourth straight year.

The venerable eight-year-old son of Old Forester has won 22 of his 27 starts, including this race in 2017, 2018, and 2019. He one loss in 2019 came when he was declared a non-starter in the Bold Venture (G3), so history shows he was unbeaten on the season. Otherwise, he hasn’t lost since October of 2018, and has won 17 of 18 at the distance. Robert Tiller trains the chestnut gelding, who will have Rafael Hernandez in the saddle after regular pilot Eurico Rosa Da Silva retired.

If this is the Pink Lloyd of 2017 or 2019, he will be nearly impossible to beat. But if it is the Pink Lloyd of 2018, who only won three of his eight starts, he is beatable. Blinkers go on #3 Circle of Friends, who is 15 – 1 on the morning line. Donald MacRae trains the son of Midnight Lute, who hasn’t won since April of last year but is always game and has been first or second 10 times.

Dixie’s Gamble has won five of 11 here for trainer Josie Carroll. The five-year-old horse won the Overskate here last October at seven furlongs. Luis Contreras will ride the son of Gamble’s Exchnage.

Malibu Secret will have Emma Jayne Wilson up. Martin Drexler trains the son of Malibu Moon, who is multiple graded stakes placed and has been top three 13 in 21 tries. This is a Sam Son Farm bred, six-year-old gelding who can either come from off the pace or show speed if required.

Not So Quiet rounds out the field of five. Watch Woodbine tonight on TVG.
