Monmouth Cup (G3) at Monmouth Park: WinStar Farm had a big day with their home-breds, including this race when GLOBAL CAMPAIGN ($7.00) won for the fifth time in his eight race career. Followers of the newsletter also cashed a nice $20 win bet on him, but I couldn’t connect on the exactas or trifectas as I discounted the chances of MATH WIZARD, who finished second.
Coaching Club American Oaks (G1) at Saratoga: Win #2 for WinStar Farms as their PARIS LIGHTS ($6.00) beat their other filly in the race (CRYSTAL BALL), keying a $12.60 exacta which I recommended playing four times.
United Nations (G1) at Monmouth Park: Trainer Mike Maker continues to impress with his ability to claim high priced turf claimers and transform them into graded stakes winners and that’s exactly what he did once again with AQUAPHOBIA ($23.40). Unfortunately, I wasn’t a believer before the race, which is when it counts!
TVG.com Haskell (G1) at Monmouth Park: DR. POST finished a good second to TIZ THE LAW (the leading three-year-old candidate for the KY Derby) in the Belmont Stakes last month, but alas, who do you know, trainer Bob Baffert easily dispatched of not only him and all the other runners with AUTHENTIC ($3.20), but also all my plays in the race as well. Lesson learned.
