The most intriguing betting race of the day at Del Mar on Saturday could be the $250,000 (G1) Del Mar Oaks for three-year-old fillies. The 1 1/8th mile turf race drew a field of eleven.

French shipper Miss Extra (FR) makes her United States debut here after being a Group 2 winner in her native country just two months ago. She has won three of four starts in 2020 and is now in the barn of trainer Richard Mandella. She was ninth in Group 1 company last out behind one of the best fillies in the United Kingdom, Fancy Blue, but was beaten just seven lengths for the win.

Four-time stakes winner Laura’s Light drew post position ten. She won the one-mile San Clemente (G2) last out for trainer Peter Miller, and has a record of five wins in seven starts. The daughter of Constitution has never been worse than second on this course, but her lone turf loss did come here against Grade 3 company in November.

California-bred Warren’s Showtime will have jockey Mike Smith up for the first time. The chestnut daughter of Clubhouse Ride has won three of her last six starts, all stakes. The Craig Lewis-trainee has yet to run nine furlongs after keeping to 1 1/16 miles or less in her 11-race career to date.

There are two horses to run for trainer Leonard Powell. One is another filly shipping in from France, Neige Blanche (FR). The daughter of Anodin is coming off a Group 3 win at Lyon-Parilly, and has a record of route races from ten to 11 furlongs. Powell’s second runner is Guitty (FR), who drew outside the field. She has run over this course four times with two wins and a second to her credit. The daughter of Dunkerque was 19-1 when second, beaten three-quarters of a length, behind Laura’s Light last out.

Aqua Seaform Shame is coming in off two straight wins five-furlong wins here. The first of those was in November, then she was off until July 10th. Richard Baltas trains the daughter of Kantharos, who will have Ruben Fuentes up. She is likely to show speed, although she did settle in last time.

Carpe Vinum, California Kook, Trickle In, Red Lark, and Parkour round out the field. Watch and Wager on all the Stakes action at Del Mar with TVG.
