Seven juvenile fillies have been entered in the $100,000 Generous Portion Stakes for California-breds on Sunday card at Del Mar. The 5-2 choice is I’m So Anna, an impressive maiden breaker at Los Alamitos in July.
#6 I’m So Anna (5-2) is coming off a four-length maiden win at Los Alamitos last out, July 2. The Steve Sherman trainee is a daughter of Fast Anna who was third on the synthetic at Golden Gate Fields in May; that was her debut.
#3 Governor Goteven (3-1) is a good sort after going undefeated in two starts. She broke her maiden first out at Santa Anita May 29, scoring by a neck, then improved considerably to win the CTBA Stakes at Del Mar by more than three lengths. Lisa Bernard trains the daughter of Governor Charlie, who defeated today’s rival Big Andy in that event. Tiago Pereira will ride once again on a filly who has had two big works this month.
#5 Will Take a Kiss (8-1) is one of the longer shots in the field but is coming off a good maiden win over this course for trainer Mike Harrington. This is a California-bred daughter of Will Take Charge out of stakes placed River Kiss, who has produced four other winners, this is a live longshot.
#7 Emma’s Dance (5-1) was a five-length maiden breaker trained by Ed Moger, Jr. She is a daughter of the well-bred Curlin to Mischief who scored by five lengths on debut at Golden Gate on the Tapeta. She now ships down here and does have a local work. Ruben Fuentes will ride.
#4 Big Andy (7-2) will put blinkers on following a loss to Governor Goteven in the CTBA Stakes last out as the favorite. Blake Heap trains the daughter of Mr. Big, who will be ridden by Flavien Prat. She has crossed the finish line first on debut, but was disqualified, and thus is still technically a maiden.
