Opening weekend is over, so the Santa Anita Park winter meeting is in full swing. The Thursday feature is the $75,000 Blue Norther Stakes for juvenile fillies going one mile on the grass.

#1 Javanica (5-2) is a Godolphin runner out of the standout mare Shuruq. Eoin Harty trains the daughter of Medalia d’Oro, who broke her maiden at Arlington Park over this distance, and then ran second in the Glorious Song at Woodbine in October. She shipped to Del Mar for the Jimmy Durante (G3), where she missed by just a half-length after being four wide early. She has stayed in Southern California since then waiting for this spot, and retains jockey Flavien Prat for this. After running second in both stakes tries, Javanica could get it done here.

#4 Quattroelle (5-2) is her chief challenger. The daughter of Mehmas (Ire) was third in the Jimmy Durante, beaten just a quarter length by the top choice. She broke her maiden over this course by a length and a half after shipping in from Ireland. Jeff Mullins trains now, and Tyler Baze will ride once again.

#6 Pizzazz (2-1) comes from the Richard Mandella barn. She was fourth in the Jimmy Durante, and broke her maiden at Del Mar after already being stakes placed this fall over this course. Mike Smith will ride the daughter of War Front.

#8 Absolute Scenes (6-1) is another Irish-bred, this one makes her United States debut here. She broke her maiden at Chelmsford in England last out, winning by four lengths on an all weather surface. Richard Baltas takes over the training and Joel Rosario will be up.

#3 Carpe Fortuna (6-1) rounds out the last of the contenders. She broke her maiden going a mile at Del Mar after running sixth sprinting in the summer. Peter Eurton trains the daughter of Carpe Diem, who cost $155,000 in April.

#2 Michalska (20-1), by Jimmy Creed, #5 Derby Quest (30-1), by Nyquist, and #7 Royal Blend (20-1) by Into Mischief round out the field. Royal Blend is a maiden; Derby Quest broke her maiden at the $80,000 level last out. is the best place to bet Santa Anita racing online.
