About Hastings Race Track

Nestled in the beautiful landscape of Vancouver, Canada,Hastings Race Track has been capturing the imagination of Vancouverites and out-of-towners alike for more than a century, showcasing live, seasonal thoroughbred racing and year-round simulcast racing set against picturesque mountain and waterfront views. Over the years, it has played host to a slew of prestigious stakes events, including British Columbia Derby, the Sadie Diamond Futurity, Jack Diamond Futurity, Ballerina Breeders Cup, and the BC Breeders Cup Oaks.

Originally called East Park when it opened for business in 1889, Hastings Racetrack is a now a wholly owned subsidiary of Great Canadian Gaming Corporation (GCGC), a leading casino and gaming operator, as well as the largest community-based gaming management company in western Canada. In 2008, just four years after seizing control, the GCGC added a 600-slot permanent gaming facility to the grounds. That same year, it also celebrated the grand opening of the River Rock Casino Resort in Richmond.

Including simulcasts from many of the world’s most prestigious tracks, 600,000 guests wager upwards of $150 million on more than 40,000 races each year. The main track is five furlongs and touts a 513-foot homestretch.
