About Mohawk Race Track

The Mohawk Race Track opened in 1963 in Ontario, Canada. Since then, some of the most legendary names have graced the course. Champion horses such as Cam Fella, Matts Scooter, Artsplace, Moni Maker, and Odies Fame, along with talented drivers such as Doug Brown, Steve Condren, Ron Waples, and John Campbell have thrilled racing fans over the years.

After 35 years as Canada`s premier 5/8ths mile harness oval, Mohawk Race Track was transformed during a massive $2 million summer overhaul. It reopened in 1998 as a one-of-a-kind 7/8ths mile oval track made of crushed limestone, featuring 1,095 feet homestretch, ten starting gates, 730 stalls, and a seating capacity of 5,000. That same year, history was made again when Glory’s Comet, now the richest Canadian-bred horse ever, set the track record for trotters with a time 1:53.4. Then in September of 2000, two years after the renovation, Pacer Western Ideal became the fastest horse in Mohawk Racetrack history when he recorded a mile in 1:49.

Today, Mohawk Racetrack regularly hosts a slew of fast-paced events. Those stakes include the Youthful Pacing Series, the Mohawk Pacing Series, and the Princess Pacing Series. In the fall, the stakes include the Campbellville Trot, the Milton Stakes, and the Harvest Stakes.
