Both quarter horses and thoroughbreds race at Retama Park for 25 live days across July, August and September. Gates open at the track at 5.30PM for a post time of 6.45PM and all results will show up right here throughout the meet.
About Retama Park
Retama Park hosts various types on its two tracks located at Selma, Texas, on the outskirts of San Antonio which is around 19 miles away.The track has been hosting live racing since 1995 and remains open on non-racing days for simulcasting, allowing bettors to place wagers on races from elsewhere round the country on a daily basis.
Retama Park History
The track opened for business on April 7, 1995 and had a successful first year which included making constant improvements such as offering twin trifecta wagering and suprfecta wagering.Big increases in revenue were posted in 1996 as the track consolidated its position and by its third season in 1997, the first mixed meet was hosted.
By 1998 the track was reporting a daily handle of $378,000 on average for its mixed meet and an incredible $1,000,000 average for the thoroughbred meet in the fall.
Just before the turn of the millennium, Retama announced plans to expand and introduce a lavish new area called the Players Club for their Turf and Field Club members. This opened to coincide with the start of the mixed meet in April 1999 to great acclaim and by October that year, daily thoroughbred handles had topped $2,000,000.
This century things have gotten even better and the track remains very popular both with locals and out-of-towners who flock to watch the live action.
Retama Park Track Details
The main track at Retama Park is a one-mile dirt oval with two chutes offering varying start distances, while there is a seven furlong turf course to the inside. There is a 990-feet run from the final turn to the wire down the homestretch.
