About Dayton Raceway
Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway as it is named in full, is a modern racino situated in Dayton, Ohio around 5 miles from downtown Dayton and 70 from Columbus.A truly sports mad area, Dayton Raceway sits right next door to the sizable Kittyhawk Golf Center having moved from its original location of Toledo, Ohio, 145 miles away where it had been known as Raceway Park since 1959 upon its inception.
The original venue held both thoroughbred horse racing and car racing, though it was felt a change was needed especially in order to bring a casino into the business and so the move to Dayton was sanctioned.
Weekend harness racing is the specialty of this track but since 2011, when state Governor John Kasich agreed to allow the entity to place video lottery machines on the property and to Ohio’s six other tracks, revenue has been gained and greatly accepted from gaming and has allowed larger purse prizes on the track.
The move to Dayton happened officially in spring 2014 with the new racino opening to the public to great feedback on August 28, 2014 complete with its 1,000 video lottery machines.

There is a standard half-mile dirt oval at Dayton, laid specifically to host harness racing.
Biggest Races
Regulars at Dayton, and before that Raceway Park, looked forward most to the Ohio Sire Stakes and the Buckeye-Wolverine Pace. The latter race was stopped recently however although many other popular races remain on the card at the fall meet.
